Navigating Conflict for Municipal Teams
A One-Day Intensive Training to Build Conflict Competency
For managers and staff

📅 June 26, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (EST).

💻 Online (Zoom)

About this workshop

With the Canadian Institute for Conflict Resolution (CICR) presence at the FCM 2025 conference and trade show, we wanted to come up with a workshop tailored specifically to the needs of municipalities and municipal teams.

Municipal teams work at the intersection of change, service delivery, and public engagement. Conflict is a normal part of that work—but how we respond to it makes all the difference. With the right tools and mindset, it can become a pathway to greater trust, stronger collaboration, and more effective service delivery.

This 1-day interactive training from CICR supports municipal teams in developing the essential mindset and practical skills to respond—rather than react—when interpersonal conflict arises.

Who is this training for?

  • Frontline staff engaging with citizens and community members better serve clients and maintain positive relationships.

  • Supervisors, managers, and directors overseeing municipal teams and programs.

  • Municipal staff seeking practical tools for navigating conflict in their day-to-day work

CICR’s training is grounded in Community-Based Conflict Resolution (CBCR) and over 35 years of experience in building conflict resilience across sectors in Canada and beyond.

Our workshops are highly experiential, integrative, and relational. We don’t just teach conflict resolution—we foster a learning community where participants reflect on their own conflict styles, engage in guided practice, and learn new tools to shift how they communicate, listen, and respond in difficult circumstances.
