Everyone trained in mediation could eventually become a mediator.

A judge’s role in society is of particular significance and is often regulated by county laws. Some countries have an in-court mediation model whereby judge are trained to act as mediators in cases assigned to other judges. Most countries, however, have opted for a model that has a preference given to training judges to recognize cases appropriate for mediation and referring out-of-court mediation to the disputing parties. However, mediation skills would be helpful for any judge in assisting parties to reach a regular court settlement.
