Shirley Paré, CD, MA, MPA trainer and developer of the Seminars Series.
A subject matter expert in issues of both harassment and gender awareness, and the impact of these issues on workplace effectiveness at National Defence Headquarters. Shirley is also co-author of Beyond Control: A Mutual Respect Approach to Protest Crowd – Police Relations with Vern Neufeld Redekop. Shirley completed both CICR’s Third Party Neutral and Seminar programs in 2000. She was an observer for the Third Party Neutral program and became trainer of the new seminars series in 2006.
A Fellow of CICR, Shirley has worked on the Crowd Management Project and is part of several CICR support committees.
Shirley has been in the field of conflict resolution for 10 years. Prior to her involvement with CICR, Shirley had a 24 year military career including HR management; reviewing internal complaints and grievances for National Defence management and advising on the integration of women into combat related employment. She has been involved in volunteer organizations holding executive positions and initiating support for activities in numerous military and civilian communities.
Shirley holds a Master of Arts in Conflict Studies, Saint Paul University Ottawa and a Master of Public Administration, Queen’s University Kingston.
