NEW – Community Mediation Program

CICR has assumed responsibility for the Community Mediation Program that was formerly administered by the YM/YWCA. The mandate of CICR’s Community Mediation Program is to offer conflict resolution services to individuals and community groups in the greater Ottawa area who cannot get help resolving their issues through other avenues, or have limited resources to pay and who want to maintain/restore a relationship with another party. Mediation and/or coaching services are offered to help you through these difficult circumstances.

How it Works

  • Call us at  613-235-5800.
  • Give us a brief description of the problem and your contact information; a trained mediator will contact you.
  • Your case will be assessed for suitability for mediation and/or coaching. If we can’t help, we will attempt to refer you to an appropriate agency.
  • If we accept your case, the other party will be invited to participate in mediation.
  • A mediation meeting will be arranged at a time and location convenient to all parties (because mediation is voluntary, it can only happen if everyone agrees to take part).
  • The mediator will facilitate communication and help the parties agree on a solution.
